Guided ManoYatra tool

Butterfly Tap

The butterfly hug is a self-soothing practice in which you cross your arms over your chest and tap alternately on each shoulder, at a slow and steady rhythm.

How it works

It is quiet, needs nothing, and can be done sitting anywhere without drawing attention. The slow alternating rhythm is the whole of it. It was developed in a disaster-response setting for use at scale, which is why it is so simple. Keep the pace slow — speeding up tends to work against the effect.
